Bluesky won’t use your data to train AI

Apps & Software . News Article

The Twitter replacement app Bluesky posted on November 15 that it’s not planning to use its user data to train AI.

This is in retaliation to X (formerly Twitter) rewriting its terms of service to allow for the platform to scan what its users post and use it to train its AI models.

A number of artists and creators have made their home on Bluesky, and we hear their concerns with other platforms training on their data. We do not use any of your content to train generative AI, and have no intention of doing so.

The Verge notes that other companies like Google or OpenAI could still potentially scrape what you post from this site, so you shouldn’t consider yourself completely isolated from AI on Bluesky. That said, the company is trying its best to keep AI scraping tools out.

Bluesky is on the upswing recently and MobileSyrup has recently joined the service ourselves. You can find us here.

In this influx, the team at Bluesky has noticed an uptick in spam. The company has used AI tools to help moderate content to ensure that the site is user-friendly. However, the team at Bluesky says that this tool isn’t used to train any generative AI models.
