Koodo adds $44/80GB 4G plan to match Fido
Telus-owned Koodo added a $44/80GB 4G plan to match Fido.
Koodo’s plan costs $49/mo, or $44 with autopay, and includes 80GB of 4G data at up to 100Mbps speeds along with unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting. The plan also includes one free perk with options like rollover data or international texting.
The provider marked the plan as being a promotional offer, but there’s no indication of how long it will stick around.
At the time of writing, Virgin Plus hadn’t matched the $44/80GB plan.
Fido’s 80GB plan launched at $49 (with autopay) but later dropped to $44 (with autopay) on November 21st. Fido has a $10/mo autopay discount so the plan’s true price is $54.
Moreover, Fido’s plan includes unlimited calling and texting from Canada to the U.S., Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and the U.K. Coupled with Fido’s slightly higher 150Mbps cap on 4G speeds, Fido’s $44/80GB plan is arguably slightly better value.
That said, I don’t think either carrier has the best value right now. Freedom and Public have $35/50GB and $45/75GB 5G plans with built-in Canada/U.S./Mexico roaming.
